Book Illustration

for Deciding on Joy

If you’ve looked through our portfolio, you’ll know that we have a great working relationship with Dr Tamara Pizzoli and The English Schoolhouse. We love working with passionate, motivated and driven women who are pushing boundaries and making important work, and Tamara is the ultimate example of that. So when she contacted us about illustrating a book for adults for her for the first time, we jumped at the chance.

Deciding on Joy: My Journey From Break Up To Breakthrough in 30 Days by Dr. Stephanie D. Barnes is a self-help book written from Stephanie’s experience of a painful divorce. Already a prolific author, Stephanie’s Deciding on Joy has been described as “Lemonade meets Eat Pray Love”, which sounds like a match made in heaven to us! Tamara commissioned us to illustrate the 30 chapters, each a day in the process. The style of the illustrations are raw, honest and blunt, perfectly matching the words and advice of the book. This was a new style for us; we’re known for our colourful, vibrant illustrations, and working in this black and white style was completely new. It was an artistic challenge to represent the tone and content of every chapter only using heavy black, and one that we thoroughly relished. We’re really pleased with the results, and are so happy that Tamara and Stephanie are, too.

If you’re looking for book illustration for your latest manuscript, we’d love to hear from you.
